I was already blocking google-analytics in the host file.

getclicky.com was stalling the load of this page, so now thats in the hosts file too.

I'm still looking for a permanent solution, because my hosts file is getting long.... that adblock looks promising.

I am a consumer, I can not access links or most urls I type in due to "WAITING ON GOOGLE ANALYTICS" I am furious, and at this point would consider telling any one placing GA on their web page to forget my business. Google has no help for the end user trying to get to their web destination. I can not go to 90 % of the sites I want to. I get blank page and "WAITING ON GOOGLE ANALYTICS" If any one can help!

for those whom might still have the problem
and not be the site owner themselfes.

the easy way out is:

install the adblock or adblock plus add-on
for firefox and block www.google-analytics.com

that worked for me.

it seems like a WYCIWYG problem

(if your screen pops to blank, and is waiting
foor google-analytics, press the button to
select which site you want to 'go back' to
and you'll see 'wyciwyg://#/http://www.yourwebsite.com'
or something. its somehow trying to get in the site
from cache.    (w)hat (y)ou (c)ache (i)s (w)hat (y)ou (g)et)

Thanks Lee, you're right using the old code and swapping the identifier solves the problem. Cant believe google have released new code that cause sites to hang like this. I've come accross lots of website with this issue that just hang indefinitely, only seems to happen with Firefox..

the old code is

var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape(""));

try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-XXXXXXX-YY");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}

with X and Y the identifier for your website

hi
I'm not a tekkie but frustrated as heck with a recent development specific to Firefox (im on a macbookpro if that's relevant)

I see teh 'waiting for google-analytics' for vimeo.com & starbucks.com plus numerous other sites at the bottom of my browser window while the site 'loads' forever

In trying to find a solution, yours is one of the few pages that would download successfully without that 'waiting for google-anaylytics.."

The sites flash on my screen briefly,browser screen goes white, spinning icon says loading...bottom of screen is waiting...this goes on forever..
just posting here in case there is an easy fix

i installed the opt out addon but it didnt fix this problem...
This only is happening using Firefox, Safari works fine.
thanks for any help
