Ever diligent

Yawn. The eve of Thanksgiving. Normal people are at home, roasting chestnuts, sipping port on this chilly evening. Perhaps there’s a fire for the first time this winter. Meanwhile, a new set of IPs start crawling the web looking for “search engine spam”. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.

Editor’s Note: That was not a rhetorical post. The IPs were from Yahoo! and started with 74.6.81.*

   Are the bots identifying themselves as a Ybot or are the like the new Adsense bots coming in stealth mode?

   Also, why are you saying they are specifically looking for SE spam?

   I guess I was projecting, Jeremy. I don’t really have any evidence of stealth crawling, just activity from those IPs for the first time.

   AdSense shares cache with Googlebot now.

   Hey Bill, c’mon really now. Do you think Google doesn’t stealth scan? I know that messes with your bot blocker brain, but c’mon. How could they not?
